Knoxville Hospital and Clinic (KHC) Infusion and Specialty Clinic Expansion
Knoxville, Iowa
Knoxville Hospital & Clinics advanced its master plan with a $21 million expansion and renovation that enhances specialty, infusion, and emergency services. The first phase introduced the Don & Margaret Long Infusion Center and the Weiler Foundation Specialty Clinics in a new southeast addition, designed with patient advisory input to prioritize daylight, views, and choice of privacy or social interaction.
The infusion center combines open and enclosed bays, warm finishes, and access to a south-facing healing garden; a continuous sunshade doubles as a covered canopy to mitigate heat and glare while improving energy performance. The specialty expansion accommodates 24 visiting specialists, increasing local access to advanced care.
To modernize the Emergency Department, administration was relocated to enable lab consolidation and create footprint for a larger care team zone and behavioral health accommodations. The central lab improves operational flow and diagnostics proximity while freeing space for the ED expansion. Phased construction preserved essential services during work.
Designed for resilience, adaptability, and human-centered care, the project enhances patient dignity, strengthens clinical operations, and ensures Knoxville Hospital & Clinics remains a trusted regional health partner.
