The MercyOne Comfort Health Center for Women redefines how healthcare is delivered for women in Iowa. As the state's first comprehensive health center dedicated to midlife and beyond, this 31,000-square-foot facility brings preventive, specialty, and wellness services together in one coordinated setting, empowering women to take charge of their health in a supportive and modern environment.

The design balances identity and experience. The addition's exterior identity is bold, yet thoughtful: a dramatic entrance with striking height, crisp and feminine white Corian cladding, and high-performance glass establish a strong community presence and promote a sense of confidence in the care patients are receiving by providing an open, bright, and welcoming space. Inside, spa-like finishes, natural light-filled spaces, softened textures, and calming materials welcome patients with warmth. Large-scale artwork by local female artist Paula Schuette Kraemer breathes life into the entry, using butterfly motifs and shared memories to evoke empathy, strength, and connection.

Functionally, the building separates patient and staff movement, enabling both efficiency and privacy. Universally designed neighborhoods, including teamwork areas, exam and procedure rooms offer flexibility for reconfiguration and/or addition of alternate services to meet any future changing needs, while dedicated spaces for education, demonstration, and lifestyle programs extend the Center's impact beyond traditional care into wellness and prevention. The center offerings are unmatched by an expansive multidisciplinary team of primary care, specialists, imaging and wellness providers all integrated into a single, coordinated environment for the unique concerns in midlife.

By uniting advanced services with a welcoming, patient-centered setting that embodies feminine character, the Center establishes a new benchmark in women's health, combining innovation, compassion, and empowerment in a destination built for well-being and healing.
