Northeast Iowa Community College Industrial Technology Building

Peosta, Iowa

At the Peosta campus of NICC, this Industrial Technology facility, built into the hillside, carves a "dirty-side, clean-side" narrative—separating heavy-duty labs from student-focused spaces. The lower level supports hands-on training with a 12-bay automotive shop and a six-bay diesel truck lab that can accommodate full-length tractor-trailers. Above, brighter "clean" zones—student lounges, offices, and classrooms—overlook an Outdoor Learning Lab featuring prairie, woodland, savanna, and wetland ecosystems. The design's exposed structure, industrial materials, and evening "lantern" glow embody the educational journey from raw to refined.
